AIR FLUID EXCHANGE:
A procedure to remove blood from the back of the eye or to reattach a detached retina after a vitrectomy.

AVASTIN:
A medication used to treat wet macular degeneration as well as diabetic retinopathy and vascular diseases of the eye.

CATARACT:
A clouding of the lens that requires surgical removal to improve vision.

DIABETIC LASER TREATMENT:
Laser treatment used to seal leakage or new vessel growth in the back of the eye in diabetic eye disease.

GAS INJECTION:
A gas injected into the eye to repair a retinal detachment.

LUCENTIS:
A medication similar to Avastin.

PHACOEMULSIFICATION:
A technique using a rapidly vibrating probe to remove a cataract through a small incision.

SCLERAL BUCKLE:
A silicon sponge used to repair a detached retina that is surgically implanted.

VITRECTOMY:
Removal of the gel in the back of the eye, removes opacities, scar tissue or floaters to improve vision.
